Community Outreach

At Bedont Orthodontics, we take pride in being active in the community.  In addition to attending many community events, Dr. Bedont and his team also remain actively involved in a variety of other meaningful ways, as highlighted below.

Patient appreciation activity

Since 2016 Bedont Orthodontics has proudly hosted an annual Pool Party and BBQ at the Gresham Cascade Athletic Club for our patients and their families.  Dr. Bedont fires up the grill with burgers and hotdogs, while guests enjoy swimming, game, prizes, and lots of fun.  It’s one of our favorite ways to celebrate our amazing orthodontic family and say thank you for being part of our practice.

Outreach to local dentists

Bedont Orthodontics loves building strong relationships with local dentists, and one of Dr. Bedont’s favorite days of the year is ice cream delivery day! Each year, Dr. Bedont and his team  visit dental offices throughout the community to hand-deliver sweet treats as a fun way to say thank you for their partnership and support.

Office Contests

Since 2012, Bedont Orthodontics has proudly hosted an annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest with local dental offices. Each year, our creative dental partners design and decorate pumpkins, and our patients get to join in on the fun by voting for their favorite! It’s a festive tradition that brings our dental community together and adds a little extra excitement to the fall season.

We also love keeping things fun in the office throughout the year with special contests and games for our patients. One of our most meaningful annual traditions is the Camp Collins Scholarship. Each year, we award a deserving patient a scholarship to attend YMCA Camp Collins for a full week during the summer. It’s our way of giving back and helping create unforgettable memories beyond the orthodontic office.

Rotary Club

When Dr. Bedont moved back to the Pacific Northwest in 2010, he joined the Gresham Rotary Club and quickly found both meaningful fellowship and rewarding opportunities to serve the community. Since 2012, he has served as Scholarship Chair, helping the club award more than $300,000 in scholarships to local students attending Mt. Hood Community College. Supporting students in achieving their educational goals has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of his Rotary involvement.

One of the Rotary Club’s annual service projects is the Camp Collins Cleanup. This project is how Dr. Bedont first became involved with YMCA Camp Collins. Over the years, he has invited hundreds of youth to participate in the cleanup efforts, helping prepare the camp for the summer season while fostering a spirit of service and teamwork.

Portland Choir and Orchestra

Dr. Bedont didn’t begin singing until adulthood. While in college, he enrolled in an introductory voice class that taught him the fundamentals of singing and sparked a new passion.  From there he started singing in church choirs.

In 2015, Dr. Bedont decided to audition for the Portland Choir & Orchestra (PCO) — and he has been singing with the group ever since.
Through the PCO, Dr. Bedont has had the opportunity to travel and perform at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. While that was certainly a highlight, most of the choir’s performances take place throughout the Portland metro area

Performances from past concerts can be viewed on the Portland Choir & Orchestra’s YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@PortlandChoirAndOrchestra

Tickets for upcoming concerts are available on the PCO website https://www.musicinportland.org/

High School Track and Field

Pole vaulting has been a lifelong passion for Dr. Bedont. He competed in the event in both high school and college, and years later, two of his children followed in his footsteps by pole vaulting in high school as well.

When his daughter began vaulting in 2017, Dr. Bedont was invited to join the coaching staff at Camas High School. Since then, he has served as a volunteer part-time coach, assisting full-time pole vault coach Dan Kielty. Coaching has been a rewarding way for him to stay connected to the sport while mentoring young athletes.

In 2025, the Camas High School track and field team celebrated an extraordinary achievement — both the boys’ and girls’ pole vaulters won state titles, and both set new state records. The photo on the right is from the 2025 state track meet.

Ultimate Frisbee

On Saturday mornings, you can usually find Dr. Bedont out on the field playing Ultimate Frisbee. Since 2014, he has helped organize a weekly pickup game at Goot Park in Camas, creating a fun and welcoming tradition that brings people together year-round.

The game is open to everyone — young and old, seasoned players and those brand new to throwing a Frisbee. Whether you’re looking for great exercise, friendly competition, or simply a way to connect with others in the community, you’re invited to join the group every Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m., rain or shine.
