Adults looking to pursue orthodontic treatment will find a much larger variety of options than they remember from their childhood.  Traditional braces use wires with brackets cemented on the front of the tooth, with bands anchoring the wires in the back of the mouth.  An alternative is self-ligating braces. Self-ligating braces don’t need elastic bands, using a wire that goes through a small metal clip on the bracket. Treatment is most often finished the quickest with traditional braces, however, if appearance is a major concern, lingual braces and aligners may be a better fit to your particular needs.  The duration of your treatment may take longer than traditional braces, though.
